The University of Akron School of Business will soon have a new Dean.
Pending approval by the University’s Board of Trustees, Robert J. (RJ) Liability pass on Jan. 31.
He was described as a “lawyer by education and businessman by commerce” in a university press release. Nimr founded professional sports agency Icon Sports Management in 1998. The company was sold to William Morris Endeavor/IMG 17 years after its launch, and then became the leader of the IMG golf brand.
Nimer most recently served as Chief Marketing Officer at MAI Capital Management in Cleveland. He began his career as a property tax attorney after earning his bachelor’s and law degrees at UA.
“It is a great honor and opportunity to be the next Dean of the College of Business Administration,” Nimr said in the statement. “My time at the University of Akron has been integral to my development, both professionally and personally. I look forward to engaging with our students and the business community in order to continue building on the success of our nationally ranked graduate and undergraduate programs.”
He will assume executive oversight of the day-to-day responsibilities of the college, a list of administrators identified as including “increasing overall enrollment, enhancing student outcomes, improving relationships with faculty, and attracting a diverse student body.” UA saw an 11.3% drop in full-time enrollment in fall 2021.
“We are very excited to have RJ, a two-time graduate of the University of Akron, in this important leadership role as Dean of the College of Business,” John Winsik, executive vice president and dean of UA, said in the statement. “RJ has the spirit of innovation that is the hallmark of Zip alumni, and we are thrilled to lead the College of Business at this pivotal time.”
