(Reuters) – Morgan, Lewis & Bockius said on Monday it has hired former U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission attorney Erin Martin as a partner in Washington, DC.

Martin joins the Philadelphia-founded firm after more than 13 years at the Securities and Exchange Commission, most recently serving as the head of the legal branch in the corporate finance division. The company, as a partner in Morgan Lewis’ corporate and business dealings practice, said it would advise clients on public company disclosure and advisory matters, including special purpose acquisition firm transactions.

Martin began her career with the Securities and Exchange Commission in 2008 as a staff attorney in disclosures. During her tenure of more than a decade at the agency, her responsibilities have included overseeing disclosure files filed by financial institutions and securities offerings for digital assets.

“Obviously, I think the decision to switch from government to the private sector is a tough decision to make,” Martin said. “But I felt very strongly that Morgan Lewis was the place for me.”
