The world has become a giant village thanks to the advent of the Internet. Assets are becoming digital and some hold more value than physical assets. NFTs (non-replaceable token) and SaaS (software as a service) are some examples.

Since the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, digital assets in the form of content have skyrocketed as most people have been confined to their homes with the internet as the only outlet for expression.

In turn, business investment in this field has also gained momentum, be it blogs, content-based sites or online services such as online courses, digital subscriptions, social media platforms, online broadcasts, etc.

Bangladesh also jumped on the bandwagon.

A home-grown company called Rank Wizards operates and handles its niche blogs and content writing sites that serve as a hosting platform for relevant e-commerce ads to turn them into attractive investment opportunities for small investors or corporate individuals investing small amounts of money in multiple businesses.

In a conversation with The Business Standard, Founder Saleh Ahmed, Creative Director Abu Youssef Shehab and Branding Program Director Ghulam Sadman spoke about the startup startup, a company working on personal finance or operating income, and how it plans to revolutionize the digital assets industry.

“Ranking Wizards is primarily a digital asset builder and manages similar types of digital assets on behalf of clients. We are focusing on the industry’s niche blog building segment and plan to move into different segments later,” Shehab said.

Startup founder Saleh Ahmed founded the company when he was a student at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology and was working as a freelancer in 2016.

“It was initially a solo project and my brainchild was Rank Wizards, and now it is a team of 74 people. Although the digital asset industry has been doing well on its own, most of the developing countries trying to capitalize on this sector have been lagging behind. .

There was hardly anyone from Asia disrupting the industry. So I thought about the idea of creating a company that has the bootstrap and made it available to small investors to help us build more digital assets,” Saleh said, detailing how he came up with the idea.

Initially, Saleh’s focus was on ensuring a return on investment and establishing the platform as a personal investment opportunity for other small investors like himself.

From 2016 to 2020, self-funded Rank Wizards were providing online-only services such as content marketing. To accumulate financial resources, Saleh was forced to sell services and consultancy at his start-up.

“As our journey continued, we had to learn the craft by serving our clients. In those three years of working as a service agency, we developed our own formula for building assets. We are still in the asset building phase along with our services,” Saleh told the reporter.

We asked the team to tell us how successful the Rank Wizards have been so far. In response to this question, Sadman said, “This is a difficult question but I think we have done a good job. Since we are focused on two broad goals – meeting customer expectations and building our products – we have to measure success separately.”

He continued, “When it comes to customer onboarding, we can proudly say that we have a returning portfolio of customers and we don’t need to search for them. Our success here lies in the fact that we get new customers through word of mouth. But if we speak in numbers, we have served over 250 customers. Until now “.

“Our other measure of success is the number of our employees. At the beginning of 2021 we only had 13 employees. But now, as the year draws to a close, we have a team of more than 74 employees thanks to revamped recruitment and HR strategies.”

Sadman added that Rank Wizards currently operate 25 websites, which they refer to as their products. These 25 websites generate more than 2 lakh of visitors, or internet traffic, every day.

Rank Wizard’s digital assets serve as a hub for three different target groups – content consumers from first language and non-English speaking countries, affiliate brands and single organizations, and investors (the Rank Wizards service suite and Micro-Investors).

Although the target groups are separate, the market chain remains connected. The classification wizard upgrades the items of the first target group to the second and third target groups to increase investment.

“Search engine optimization is our primary marketing tool. This helps us gain traffic.

For example, we have a website about fashion and when we write articles for the site, we publish them after optimizing those articles for Google SEO to catch. This makes our site appear [more frequently] in internet searches while increasing the chances of people eventually coming to one of our sites.”

He added that these writing processes extend the path between the site and the advertisement, making it a platform for companies to place relevant advertisements and product placement.

Revenue is generated with every sale derived from these ads/placements and Rank Wizards charges an affiliate commission for brands, which is the amount of money a brand pays to Rank Wizards to promote their products on Rank Wizard platforms.

And Saleh continued, “We have to make sure that our content maintains an online rank. If it goes down, we lose the commission and the traffic. And if the traffic goes down, we update the content by adding complementary items.”

With the conversation over, we asked the three founders about the future of Rank Wizards.

“I want to see people carrying or wearing Rank Wizards merchandise on the streets, just like I saw someone carrying a bag from The New Yorker today. I hope one day people will connect with our platform on a personal level,” Shehab said. .

“We hope to work with NFTs, cryptocurrencies, online courses, subscriptions and every other form of digital asset in the future,” Saleh said. “But with the startup, we still have to secure our grounds.”

He added that in the next five years, Rank Wizards will focus on transforming their blogs into brands, making way for the promotion dream to come true.

Last but not least, the Rank Wizards team is working to define the concept of digital assets in Bangladesh.

“There are approximately 10,000-15,000 people who are actively investing in digital assets in Bangladesh, but they are only doing it as a side business. Among millennials, we want to learn about this [digital asset investment] in Bangladesh as a full career option.”
