Independent label agency Merlin has elected its new board of directors.
The organization’s Board of Directors, elected from and with membership of its members, includes representatives from across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, North America and Oceania.
Merlin says this “diverse experience” will provide “strategic direction for Merlin in better serving its members,” which is made up of tens of thousands of labels representing music from hundreds of thousands of artists around the world.
This year, Merlin says, nearly half of board members have been elected or appointed to their first term, with 11 returning for another term.
Newly elected to the 2022 Board of Directors are: Pascal Pittard, owner of IDOL (France); Tom Deakin, Head of EMEA, AudioSalad (UK); Sandra Ortega, Director of Global Partnerships, Altafonte (Mexico); Louis Posen, President and CEO, Hopeless Records (US); Jason Taylor, Director of Sales and Brand Relationships, Redeye (US); Yoshi Yamashita, President of RightsScale (Japan).
Among the advisors appointed this year is Katie Alberts, COO, Reach Records, who previously served on the Merlin Board. Joining for the first time: Glenn Barros, Managing Partner, Exceleration Music; Rachel Boswell, Head of Digital Partnerships and Analytics, Domino; and Jennifer Newman Sharp, Managing Director and Chief Business Officer, ONErpm.

Van Arman is the co-CEO of Secretly Group, Secretly Distribution, Numero Group and Ghostly International, and was previously elected to the A2IM Board of Directors.
He succeeds current Exceleration Music partner and former Epitaph CEO Dave Hansen, who is stepping down as CEO of Merlin’s board of directors.
Hansen has held this position since his appointment in 2019, having previously served as president for the past two years, and a long-time member of Merlin’s board of directors.
