New York, NY – January 6, 2021 – Christian Bessler, Chief Operating Officer, who leads all revenue functions for BuzzFeed, Inc. (NASDAQ:BZFD), the world’s leading digital media company for the world’s most diverse, connected, and socially engaged generation, today appointed Ken Blum as Executive Vice President of Business Strategy and Operations and Edgar Hernandez as Chief Revenue Officer.

Together, Blom and Hernandez will take on larger roles across the business organization BuzzFeed, Inc. Led by Baesler. Blom will oversee the development of products and strategies that will lead the market, and help brands adapt to new platforms and content formats. Hernandez will bring these products to market through innovative marketing partnerships and sales opportunities that drive the company’s revenue growth. Hernandez will lead the newly incorporated sales organization and focus on advancing the understanding of BuzzFeed, Inc. Deep market to create products and services to best serve it through a number of opportunities including brand partnerships, brand strategy, experimental solutions, partners and more.

As a BuzzFeed veteran, Blom has been an integral part of the company’s business operations for nearly a decade. He recently oversaw BuzzFeed’s Sales, Business Operations and Strategy division, leading the group to record revenue. It also helped unify BuzzFeed’s business organization, aligning the company’s commerce and advertising departments to increase value for partners. Under Blom’s leadership, BuzzFeed has launched Lighthouse, the industry-recognized suite of data services that every client has used since its launch in March 2021.

Hernandez joined BuzzFeed, Inc. When I went public and acquired Complex Networks last month, I worked as a public relations manager. He has extensive experience, having been part of sales and marketing for leading clients at Complex Network for over ten years, leading to product innovation and significant revenue growth throughout all phases of diversification into media, branded entertainment and video sponsorship, including Hot Ones, Automated, Agency and Demo for ComplexCon and ComplexLand. He has also been at the forefront of helping usher in new initiatives for diversity, equality and inclusion through a program to help BIPOC small business owners receive mentorship and marketing support. Herndandez was also responsible for finding funding for ComplexCon Community Week, which helps support several local nonprofits. Hernandez also focused his time on recruiting more LatinX into the media industry.

Brendan Kelly, Andrew Guendjoian and Jeff Mazzacano will continue to serve as Senior Vice President of Client Partnerships, reporting to Hernandez and be the primary leaders driving the go-to-market strategy at BuzzFeed.
