5 Content Marketing Ideas for December 2021

5 Content Marketing Ideas for December 2021
Written by publishing team

Content marketing is a continuous flow of planning and production. And topics can be hard to find, even in terms of search engine optimization.

The content must be useful, informative or entertaining, and it must help the company attract, engage and retain an audience of customers and prospects.

So for content marketing in December 2021, consider industry forecasts, holiday how-to articles, New Year’s resolutions, and a couple of unfamiliar holidays.

1. Industry outlook

December is the beginning of the end, the last month of the year. It’s a natural time to anticipate trends and changes for 2022.

To market your content, consider creating articles, videos, or podcasts that predict changes in the industry your business serves.

For example, a B2B merchant who sells restaurant supplies may want to anticipate demand for vegetarian or vegan menu items. These forecasts can answer several useful questions for restaurant owners and managers.

Should restaurant owners add new vegan and vegetarian ingredients? Is there evidence that the trend is waning? Are there more vegetarians and vegan customers? How does the vegan and vegetarian trend compare to an interest in the keto diet?

Google Trends, which shows the popularity of search terms, can provide insight. The screenshot below compares the search volume for ‘vegetarian’ and ‘keto’.

Google Trends shows the popularity of search terms. In this example, the number of searches for “vegetarian” was relatively flat, while searches for “keto” decreased.

Likewise, an online retailer that sells sports equipment to high school students and their parents might consider a prediction that compares the cost of a college education and the number of scholarships available by sport.

The idea is to create valuable content that helps customers understand how the trends in 2022 will affect them.

2. holiday how

Articles and how-to videos are content marketing at its best. No form of content is more valuable to consumers.

In December 2021, create videos or articles to show you how to complete a task – the more specific the task, the better.

Here are several examples on YouTube and popular sites:

Try to identify topics of how they relate most closely to the products or services your business sells.

3. Decisions

On New Year’s Eve, many people will share a list of resolutions. These are promises to themselves that aim to improve their lives in one way or another.

Various websites and sources estimate that between 40 and 50% of American adults make decisions, so the audience is large.

For content marketing for December, create lists and decision resources to help readers plan their own goals.

The highest resolutions are likely to include:

  • eat better,
  • Weight loss,
  • exercise more,
  • developing personal relationships,
  • save more money,
  • earn more money,
  • spend less money,
  • advanced career,
  • education,
  • Drink less alcohol
  • Quit Smoking ,
  • reduce stress,
  • travel.

Choose topics related to what your company sells. For example, an online stationery and stationery store could focus on financial decisions, publishing a series of articles describing financial journaling techniques.

Likewise, a luggage retailer or menswear company can post articles or videos about travel planning. They may cover how to travel safely despite Covid or describe potential destinations.

4. A roof over your head today

December 3, 2021 is Roof Over Your Head Day in the United States. It reminds us that many people struggle to live and to be thankful for what we have.

Since the onset of the Covid pandemic, house prices have skyrocketed all over the world. According to an October 2021 report at, rental prices in Ohio, for example, are up 41% year over year. But the tide is turning in places, and rental prices in November fell by a percentage point or so.

While it might make sense for some companies to create content about the housing market, others might focus on being “gratitude for what one has” from the part of the roof over your head.

5. Pretend to be a time traveler

This may be the most creative and funniest idea in this post.

December 8, 2021 is “Pretend You’re Time Traveling” Day. It is an opportunity for content marketers to entertain readers and viewers. Here are two possibilities.

First, create an article or video describing how to celebrate by pretending to be a time traveler’s day. This article may include recommended time travel movies or books. Or it could describe how to make an old recipe for people who like to pretend to travel through time.

Second, pretending to be a time traveler’s day may elicit content that discusses time travel. An example is the Unveiled YouTube channel, which has an eight-minute video describing four stories about time travel.
